So I started EVing my Gengar using the super training mode. I made sure to use a Reset Bag before I started. The idea was to max out it's Sp. Atk and Sp. Def. The Sp. Atk seemed capped at 229, so I ignored it and moved onto Sp. Def, which seemed maxed out at 139. What's the deal? Can someone give me a tip? --- 3DS Friend Code: 0173 2438 9315 I have Pogeymawn X.

EVs are not the same as the displayed stats. You can have a max of 255 per stat (super training stops at 252 since the extra 3 don't do anything) and at level 100 four EVs will add one point to the invested stat. Gengar has naturally good SpDef so it might have a nature that inhibits it. --- <--Apparently a hipster.

Would that mean the EV's are already at 252? --- 3DS Friend Code: 0173 2438 9315 I have Pogeymawn X.

If you can't train a particular stat anymore, then it has 252 EVs. There's no way to check a Pokemon's EVs by looking at their stats in the summary screen, but to convince yourself, save, use a reset bag, see how many EVs were taken, then restart. --- Though the fear of death is a common one, the fear of life is a more rational one.
