Question about Honedge WHY?

#1EkxclusivePosted 10/29/2013 4:00:52 PM
I see some people have Honedge with 0 IV Speed. Why? What's the build for honedge? and why Brave Nature?

You want things to outspeed Aegislash so it takes damage in its Shield Form, before it switches to Blade Form to attack

Judge if you want. We are all going to die. I intend to deserve it.

Gyro Ball. You always want to him to go last cuz of Stance Change, and Gyro Ball just brings more pain.

Brave is pretty obvious, less speed, more power.

You want Aegislash to go last so that you retain Shield Form when your opponent attacks. This greatly reduces the damage it takes while letting it retaliate with its super strong attacking stats then immediately change back to defense.

So it moves last, ensuring that the opponent hits the bulkier shield form instead of the fragile sword form.

Moveset is usually
King's Shield
Swords Dance
Shadow Sneak
Sacred Sword

Dance up, sacred sword, kings shield, Sword if you don't know if you can take it out, or Sneak if you know you can take it down.
Rinse Repeat

Iron Head almost always does more damage then Gyro Ball

So what should I give him for EV training, I know Attack should be 252 for Shadow sneak, Should I divide 252 between def and sp.def totalling 252 and 6 on HP?

QFT.

Aegislash needs to have like 1/4 the speed of the opponent to really make use of Gyro Ball over Iron Head. Even with a Brave Nature, 0 Spd and an Iron Ball that is kind of difficult to reach except against fast sweepers (none of which are weak to Steel afaik...Mr Mime maybe?). Aegislash is slow, but it isn't slow enough for Gyro Ball. If you're going to use a Steel move, Iron Head is better most of the time.

Aegislash is not invincible though. There're many ways to counter em'. :)
