Is anyone else using the O-powers as an excuse to exercise?

I work out regardless, but going on early morning walks to clock in the 4k+ steps for O-powers is kind of fun in a strange way. I'm aware that you can just shake your 3DS, but that seems less fulfilling.

Huh? Isn't it based on in-game steps?

I didn't need the excuse to go do it, but I now take the 3DS with me.

Morning run gets me ~3.5k and the walk to and from work from the train stop gets me the last ~1k.

Working pretty well so far, I can spam as many O-Powers as I want. <_< >_>

No, it's based on the steps that day in your pedometer.

Good stuff sir. I'd take it on my runs, but I'm paranoid about the 3DS falling out of my pocket. That's kind of why I threw in an extra morning walk for the sake of the O-powers.

Oh damn. I don't take mine anywhere... The XL model is kind of big to be carrying around. No wonder my O-Powers take forever to recharge lol.

I did not know this. I don't go online much, but I've always had energy for O-Powers, so I guess that's why I do.

I've been exercising and walking with the 3DS for the past while without knowing it. I mostly did it for 3DS coins, and beat most of Find Mii with them before I figured out how to use Streetpass to get people to beat it for me.

It's kinda sad that I figured the pedometer part of it before figuring out how to use Streetpass. :P

I haven't really looked at any 3DS features. I got it solely for Pokemon.

Just wanted to ask: Do I need to download some pedometer app to get steps counted?
