What would improve the Ice type?

#1Second_HokagePosted 11/9/2013 9:48:43 PM
What in your opinion would make Ice type onpar with other pokemon types?
#2LoopulsePosted 11/9/2013 9:51:28 PM
Grass and water doing half damage to ice, at the very least.

Grass would only be hurt by the ice, and water wouldn't do much, unless the water is hot (but typically in Pokemon, it's not).

Nothing wrong with ice types as an offensive attacking type. Defensively, it sucks. But that's the tradeoff for being really good at attacking.

Ice needs some resistances.

How about Normal and Water as resistances?

The problem with that is that Water-types with Ice-type coverage moves are generally better than actual Ice-types.

This, and just make Scald similar to Freeze-Dry or something.

There used to be something important and intelligent here, but I deleted it.

Give it another resistance and either a third resistance or make another type weak to it.

Also, they need to stop making so many slow pure Ice-types and make a Swift Swim for Hail. Ice is by far the worst defensive-type in the game, but you don't need to worry about weaknesses so much if you're super fast and have a good offensive type.

The problem with buffing ice types is that the only way to buff them is to buff their defensive capabilities, since their offensive power is already really good, but doing so will make them over powered.

You can't have it so that a single type is that good both offensively and defensively.

But they don't get STAB on it. STAB ice moves are pretty good.

I don't really think it's that ice as a type is BAD, its more that there aren't alot of good ice POKEMON. Regice is an example of one that's good (or, at least was good for awhile).

We just need better Ice Pokemon in general.

Remove the ability to use Ice moves from EVERY single freaking Water type.
Give them some form of Boost in Hail.

Don't add Grass resistance, as Grass types are terrible enough.
Should add something like Water resistance.

Ice needs more offense to make up for the fragility. Make it good against bugs and fairies.
