Did this generation have the most powerful starters?

I mean the stats of the final evolutions of the starters are pretty good and they all have useful hidden abilities. Would you say this generation had the most powerful Starter Pokemon?

I'd say Gen III takes the cake in that regard. Greninja is the only really noteworthy starter this generation.

No. Currently, more Gen 1 starters are relevant in higher tiers, but historically, Gen 3 had the most useable starters, coming in at three. Gen 4 had Infernape, who was a top 15 staple in gen 4 and stayed in the high 20s in Gen 5.

Right now, Gen 6 has two OU viable starters, but I suspect Greninja is just a fad. He will not remain common once the novelty wears off. Chesnaught is the one most likely to find a niche in teams more often, but only slightly.

TLDR: Gen 1 and 3.

I agree with this. Greninja is the only REALLY good one.If your going by how they are THIS gen, it's probably a tie between 1 and 3.

Not even close. Greninja is clearly OU, but hte other two are not as powerful. All of the Gen III starters were OU at one time or another, iirc, and one of them was even a Uber.

If I'm not mistaken, Gen 3 was the only one where all starters were OU during its meta-game run.

Gen 4 was quite good for it's time. Infernape swept the OU, Empoleon was a great wall. Torterra did well in UU, the only thing letting it down was it's Quad-Ice weakness.

Blaziken only became useful when it got Speed Boost, so I don't think Gen 3 counts.
