speed of pokemon are confusing and wrong in battle

#1hellman039Posted 11/12/2013 4:22:02 AM
OK why is a Tyranitar quicker than my wash rotom. Why is a Lucario quicker than my Zapdos. Its happened a lot. My Garchomp is outspeed by other Garchomps, but mine has jolly nature. And all three of my pokemon mentioned have perfect ivs in speed. Do people use cheats online? what else could it possibly be? They were not Mega as well and its happened in quite a few different games. And it is know move like trick room. l just played again and there lapras was quciker than my mega mawille(who had been in for 3 turns already). l just don't get this. PLease explain.

Maybe they have a Choice Scarf?

Choice Scarf, better speed IVs & EVs, losing the speed tie are a few reasons why you could be getting outsped.

when you share the same speed, the game throws a coin

they most likely had a choice scarf though. did they use the same move over and over?

no i have perfect ivs for speed and for my zapdos perfect ev speed. Obvisously not for mawille, but l don't think they only used the same move. What else could it be? what other items besides choice scarf?

I actually have a similar question. I'll be battling my friend's Haxorus, whose speed is around 130, 140-ish once it's been cut back down to lvl. 50. My Espeon's speed is 150, 160-ish when lvl. 50. He uses one Dragon Dance and he's faster. How is this? Do stat altering moves really add/remove so much?

I know his item of choice on his Haxorus is a Focus Scarf to avoid 1HKOs from special attacks, and his prefered moves are EQ and Outrage, so I doubt it's priority.

Would anyone care to shed some light on this? Maybe I have his speed stat wrong... Even so, my Espeon's faster than his by quite a bit, so even if I do have his speed wrong, a single DD to outspeed me puzzles me.

1 stage speed increase is +50%, so 130 x 1.5 = 195. The stat buffs are pretty dramatic in pokemon.
