breeding for bulbasaur w/ Hidden power fire

#1TilakPosted 11/16/2013 12:39:03 AM
In my efforts with IV breeding, I see that this makes it impossible to casually breed a high IV bulbasaur with HP fire.

Is there any way to breed and get IVs between 25-30 to still hope for fire? Have any of you successfully done this in the past, along with a high power to HP (60-70)? Or does it become necessary to gimp bulbasaur's IVs to get it?

Thanks in advance for any help

There's always hope for better things in life. But you can't let anything, friend, lover, God himself, be your hope. You have to be your own hope.

XD

I've just seen competitve movesets majorly include HP fire for bubly. makes sense with HA and sunny weather, though I just wonder if IVs can be ignored without taking a huge impact on its usefulness

In past games, your Hidden Power was calculated based on the evens / odds of your IVs, so you could get it with 30s and 31s as your IVs. It's tough to get a specific one, though, since you don't have full control over the IVs.

it still seems to be the case, as my calculations of 4-5 IVs in different places based off of serebiis math still fit with x/y. I just wondered if any of the breeding gods had figured out something outside of sheer luck.

May I ask why?

i don't think HP Fire is worth the headache of breeding for.

I have a venusuar with hp fire and Chlorophyll, with max ivs in hp, def, sp att, and sp def. Its really all a matter of luck, hatched about 100+ eggs and only that one had hidden power fire, got lucky with the good ivs as well.

I know at least one person who probably has a perfect HP Fire Bulbasaur by now, through the use of 30 IV Pokémon he obtained from Wonder Trade of all places: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/wonder-trades.3489867/page-12#post-4970146

There's probably a few other 30 IV rejects in circulation right now since I've seen some people offering to trade things like perfect 6 IV HP Fire Froakies. Hopefully there's someone out there with a 31/x/30/30/31/30 or 31/x/31/30/31/30 spread who's willing to help you out.

thats crazy, chandelure. I was actually wondering if someone had something like that in the link but thought it was too stupid to ask.

Well, here's hoping for a miracle.

Actually, I just realized that Instacheck program everyone's been using for finding their shiny values would make it rather easy for me to find IVs of 30 for things in relevant egg groups, since I have two 3DSs and copies of the game for checking whenever I want. I'll probably try breeding an HP Fire Roselia/Bulbasaur after I'm done going through my boxes, mostly because I've been wanting an HP Fire Lilligant for a while now.
