I originally brought this game in the hopes that I would get a good fantasy cycling simulator, and I'm rather dissapointed in this regard.

Problems include a lack of buttons dedicated to braking and using the bicycle horn, no proper modelling of bicycle acceleration and deceleration, a lack of bicycle gears to simulate the use of a proper, high-quality bike, the lack of choice between different types of bicycles and an inability to modify your bicycle, including changing your bicycle's colour. You can't even obtain bicycles from different companies. However, in contrast to previous entries in this cycling simulator, you can actually turn your bike, rather than instantly turn at 90 degrees, which I feel is a great improvement for the series.

A larger issue than even all of this is, in spite of being a cycling simulator, you do not obtain a bicycle for at least five hour in-game. Whilst many fantasy cycling simulation games feel it is necessary to create a deep and engaging story, occasionally at the expense of actually riding a bicycle, I feel that taking five whole hours before you can engage in some proper fantasy cycling is a serious problem with the game. There are also several sections in the game where you cannot actually use a bicycle, for little apparent reason, which is a rateher negative point in-game.

There is no requirement to maintain your bike and repair it if it became broken. I recognise that this is a rather contentious issue among fantasy cycling simulator enthusiasts, so, as always, I consider it an issue that needs to be brought up but the inclusion or exclusion of this is not reflected in the score given to the game.

Probably the most gaping fault in the game is the complete lack of consideration towards standard safety equipment that would be required for cyclists. The game was not merely content to omit lycra outfits, which is bad enough, the player is not even required to wear a helmet, instead, electing to wear a hat. The lack of regards to cycling safety is appalling.

That's not to say that the game is not enjoyable. Firstly, is the depth of the variety in scenery - there are caves, cities, seaside cliffs, small country towns, beaches, roads running alongside rivers, deserts and snowy passes - and the random weather in many of these places is a nice touch. The player can also choose their character's gender, and modify their character's appearance and outfit in-game (but, as stated before, cannot wear a proper lycra cycling outfit). I particularly enjoyed how the game incorporated random rewards to encourage the player to continue to cycle, such as random encounters with creatures called "Pokémons", which I believe adds a great deal of depth to the game, so much so that one might well strive to collect and breed these "Pokémons", rather than properly enjoying the fantasy cycling simulator aspect of the game.

Overall, considered as a Fantasy Cycling Simulation game, I'm going to give this a 4/10. The variety of environments and the random rewards given to you in-game are quite a nice touch, but the game is hampered by the lack of care taken in modelling bicycles, how they accelerate and decelerate, a lack of customisation options, and a lack of consideration towards cycling safety. However, I strongly believe that this bicycle riding simulator will only continue to improve in future outings, and is well worth keeping an eye on.

I'm a serious Fantasy Cycling SImulator enthusiast. When I heard how much cycling was involved in the game, I had to try it.
