C/D If Espeon were a Fire type, it'd have been OU since gen 2

The poor guy is cursed with the best stats an Eeveelution could get, and the worst typing for it. 130/110 is amazing for sweeping, and base 95 Sp. Def isn't too shabby either. Problem is that sort of stat distro is pretty much on every other Psychic type out there. If Espeon were a fire type, it'd be able to do something so Fire type but Delphox has ever been able to do, Calm Mind sweep without needing a speed boost of any sort. And with a much higher attack stat than Delphox I might add.

It'd still have Morning Sun as well as Calm Mind, but it would lose Psychic and Psyshock, while keeping stuff like Dazzling Gleam, Grass Knot, Shadow Ball, and Stored Power.

Why the hell would Espeon be a fire type when Flareon existed in Gen 1?

It's a hypothetical...

You're missing the point. =_=

TC is theorymon-ing about a pokemon with Espeon's movepool (minus the Psychic moves in favor of their Fire type equivalents) that is a Fire type with Espeon's stats.

Seems like it would have been a pretty solid thing, especially if it had Flash Fire. That'd give Heatran a run for his money.

The biggest gift it would get is not being afraid of Pursuit, but suddenly it is terrified of Earthquake and hates Stealth Rock. It gets an overall better offensive typing, but as you said it loses out on Psyshock so it suddenly can't be mixed with zero investment. Hidden Power Fire is also good enough to deal with Scizor/Ferrothorn anyways (sash allows for the 2 hits necessary if typical support Espeon on all Ferrothorn and if Scizor is bulky... which the latter still has a chance to be OHKO'd), so STAB Fire wouldn't really help with those 2 specifically which are both very common in OU.

But it picks up a handy resistance to Gyro Ball and Power Whip, so it doesn't need to take so much damage. Also, it would literally be able to repel SR after Gen 5, but the point of this topic is more about gens 2-4, since Espy was firmly not OU back then, mainly because of other fast powerful Psychic types outclassing it.

It would basically be a superior Typhlosion then?
