I've never seen a Shiny pokemon

#1gbaandpcfreakPosted 12/11/2013 11:32:14 AM
The trade board is crazy right now, I can't get any offers for my normal 5IV Pokemon, it seems everyone has a ton of shines available for trade and I have no idea how. I've had every pokemon game and I put more than 100 hours into them and I have never seen a single shiny in my life. :/

Shiny Value made shinies ridiculously easy to get

And 100 hours is not impressive

Shiny Value?

Is this something I can easily look up or is it difficult to explain?

You'd need to get instachecked or have instacheck and initiate a trade with someone, iirc.

Shinies have a slow intro into the battle. I know I have encountered them because I thought it was a glitch.

Did I know at the time?, no.

Would I know now, maybe not. Unless it was a pokemon I knew the colors for.

Basically shininess is determined at hatching, while the "shiny value" is determined when an egg is obtained. So you can trade your egg to the right person to hatch a shiny.

The reason they're obtaining them so easily is because of software known as Instacheck. It monitors your gameplay in mid-trade and reveals to you/the other trader what your TSV(Trainer Shiny Value) is. That value is any number between 0000 - 4095. This number is permanent for each trainer (unless you start your game over). Now each pkmn has its own unique TSV between 0000 - 4095 as well and that is determined the moment you receive an egg from the daycare man OR encounter one in the wild. If the pkmn has the same shiny value as you then it will be shiny, if not then it will be a regular pkmn. Hence, the 1/4096 chance to encounter one. Now if you have an egg that you know the TSV of and get another trainer with the same TSV to hatch it, it will be a shiny pkmn 100% of the time. Soooooo....they're trading eggs with matching TSVs to ensure a shiny hatches and this causes an influx of shiny pkmn to fill the trade board.

TLDR: Get instacheck, learn your TSV, get your eggs' TSVs, & hatch them with the appropriate trainer to guarantee a shiny.
