I really don't want to start all over again.

I have the game cartridge and my SD card.

As long as you have both, though I think you just need the cartridge, your save file is fine.

Well that's why you by a physical copy of the game and not a digital copy. As long as you have the physical copy, you should be fine.

You'll lose all your friend safaris, but the game can be played if another system if it's a cartridge.

Does anybody know for certain?

I'm going to buy a new 3DS XL tomorrow.

Can I just put in the SD card and game and everything will work?

The only thing you'll lose is your friend safari. Your replays and pictures get saved to the SD card. And everything else gets saved to the cartridge.

Cool, that's good to know. Thanks.

I never understood buying digital. So you can carry all your games with you, but if something happens, then what? No resale value, if that's what you like, and SD card corruption isn't uncommon.

Digital wouldn't suck so bad if ninty worked out an account system...

its kind of annoying to have to carry a case just for games, and having to switch them out when you want to play something different. that also leaves them vulnerable to theft, or simply losing them.

there are some good reasons for both physical and digital copies, though i personally prefer having cartridges.
