IVs are an elaborate form of padding

They only exist to make competitive players play the game more, wasting countless hours breeding that could be spent battling.

Because every 31/31/31/x/31/31 Adamant Azumarill is unique, right?

EVs exist to create some diversity. IV's are just a pain in the ass.

The problem is that people feel obligated to get as many perfect ivs as possible, and it's an artificial gate into competitive.

If you could set them manually (like talents) that would be awesome. Only allow so many IVs to be allocated, and make all 31's impossible.

was not the intended design when it came out.

IV's were invented and implemented so that even two pokemon trained the same way would have different characteristics based on their personality.

however, this time a round personality traits are passed down from parents, kind of like real life

if your parents are very outgoing and active, you're likely to be too.

the average player was not intended to get a 31/31/31/x/31/31 adamant azumaril very easily when IV's were first introduced.

all that was done this generation is take their game, pokemon, and make it more approachable from a competitive standpoint, IV's still exist because peokemon are still creatures, not robots.

You are trying to rationalize this too much.

Anyway, It's a feature that emphasize hacks, because full perfect ivs pokemons are nearly impossible to get under normal conditions, now that there are loads of perfect IV dittos all over the place, it's easy for some people, for me that's still cheating.

Too bad natures and abilities do that far, far more visibly than IVs ever did, while not giving some players straight-up advantages over others solely due to luck. Face it, there's no reason to keep them around anymore; players never even noticed them when they were the only variation between completely EV trained Pokemon, and now we have stuff that players can actually read and appreciate.

Agree. "it makes each pokemon unique" is a bunch of bs. Stop blindly defending Gamefreak's decisions.

Don't forget characteristics. And PID. EVs make Pokémon unique too.
