When breeding for 6 perfect IVs...

#1KazeRonin357Posted 1/13/2014 6:17:17 PM
Is it better to use parents with 5IVs with the exact same spread, or better to use 5IV parents with a different imperfect 6th stat?

Atm Im breeding for a 6IV Moxie MixMence, and I got two 5IV parents, one with x/31/31/31/31/31 and the other with 31/31/31/31/31/x. I've mostly been getting 4IV offspring with x/31/31/31/31/x, and quite a few 5IVs as well. Im up to 4-5 boxes of Bagons now, and about once or twice Ive gotten a Bagon with 5 IVs, and a perfect 0IV in a sixth stat, so Im just wondering if I was just unlucky there and that I need to keep trying?

Yeah just keep trying. It's all luck from here.

Even if you bred with 2 perfect 6IV parents, you can still get crappy babies if the destiny knot decides to pick the same stat from both parents, leaving an extra stat randomized.

With identical spreads: 1/192
With different spreads: 1/96

Keep doing what you're doing.

It's better to have 2 with different spreads. Something about the game being more likely to give an IV of 31 at random; I forgot the math involved.

No, no, no. *troutslap* This is not how the Destiny Knot works. Five different stats are ALWAYS passed. Please don't spread misinformation.

This is NOT how it works. I bred literally hundreds of Raltses from two parents, both with 31/x/31/31/31/31 spreads, and not one of the resulting eggs had anything less than four perfect IVs. If the system works as you claim it does, then my experience is so statistically improbable as to be impossible to accept. The much, MUCH more likely situation is that you are misinformed (or at least spreading misinformation).
