I thought that in Emerald, the route with the cycling road, in the grassy area right after you left Slateport city (I think that was it? not sure) was where you could catch all the grass starters. I searched for a Bulbasaur and Chikorita for days until my dad corrected me.

It was only 50 when I heard that rumor. Also oak would say something like "I'm tired of this" and he would let you walk around and into the secret room.

My bro once told me that holding (A) when the Pokeball hits and pressing it each time it "bweps" (rocks), it would catch more often.
I still do it 'cause it makes me feel better/more confident.
