This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

This gen is easy for beginners to get into competitive battling.

Since ev training and breeding is so much easier right now, I've convinced a few of my friends to try it out. They didn't ev train before as it took too long but once I told them about hordes they wanted to try it.

While not new to pokemon by any means, this gen did make a competitive breeder out of me, and I got one of my buds into it as well. It's great. Now they just need to do something about the unavailability of Tutor moves and low shiny hatch rate...

The point of shinies is they're super rare.

Not anymore
MMing with shiny charm brings it down to a 1/400 or so chance now.

Lol how many people have shiny charms? 1% of players? Also 400 eggs still take many many many hours.

Of course, but I like alternate colorings and options. So the point of shinies should no longer to be super rare, but to be semi-rare, which is the direction they're heading...

I know I got into competitive battling in a big way because it was made so easy. Now I spend way too much time playing this game...

Also not new to pokemon but this gen did taught me a lot of things and also got me into breeding and competitive battling. The previous gen I just played the main game and am done.

I sorta dislike shinies to be honest not because I don't like them but how many players acted as though it's a must have otherwise they won't trade. The trade boards are flooded with shinies. Even cloners will only clone shinies.

It seems like hardly anyone likes regular pokes anymore. Only once in a while I see someone not asking for a shiny.
