Fledgling Doubles Strategy, looking for completion advice

#1Inferno05Posted 2/7/2014 11:12:32 AM
Never played doubles before, but I'm coming up w/ a general set-up strategy. Advice/general reasons why this won't work will be helpful. Here's what I have so far, it's not fleshed out yet so it's rather small.

Xatu @ Mental Herb
Magic Bounce
Timid 252 HP/252 Spe/4 SpA
Tailwind
Skill Swap
2 filler moves

Kangaskhan @ Mega Stone
Parental Bond
Jolly 252 Atk/252 Spe
Fake Out
3 filler moves

Regigigas or Slaking @ Sitrus Berry or Life Orb
Filler EVs
Filler attacking moves

Filler/Support Pokemon.

Idea's pretty easy to see. Xatu sets Skill Swap to take Parental Bond, Kanga keeps Bounce to block some set-up. Switch to heavy hitter w/ terrible ability and Xatu Skill Swaps again. In case of Slaking, Truant won't activate til after Xatuu's next move, so either set-up Tailwind or switch back to Kanga.

Ideas for filler stuff/reasons this absolutely fails? I know I'm worried about Fake Out as well, hitting my Xatu, but I'm kind of hoping they'll worry more about Mega Kanga and use it on her.

That strategy will only work if Xatu survives, you have to keep that in mind. It also takes at least 2 turns to set it up, so it's a high risk.

I would recomment a Gastro Acid Accelgor. It's fast enough and it only takes one turn. If you're worried about Fake Out, you can run Protect in both Pokemon in the first turn.

I realized that, that's the entire point behind Kanga's Fake Out, actually. But thanks for pointing it out.

I suppose Accelgor is the 4th Pokemon, in case Xatu dies to keep my Gigas/Slaking from being useless?

Edit: I just noticed you meant in place of Xatu. Good idea, I'll keep it in mind as a back-up in case I see things that heavily threaten Xatu, or I feel like getting rid of Kanga.

Now considering Linoone w/ Simple Beam, onto a Slaking w/ Power-Up Punch. Mainly because Linoone's got decent speed, the set-up time is reduced to one turn, and Slaking gets to do damage and practically Swords Dance on the first turn, if Slaking goes Adamant as opposed to Jolly. But this also means I have 2 extra spots of unknown plans.

Edit: Just found out Simple Beam won't work on Truant. Damn. Back to the Skill Swap or Gastro Acid approach, preferably Skill Swap, I feel it's rather safe w/ Mental Herb Xatu and Fake Out Kanga.
