The story part of the game is intended for children. The competitive/Battle places are intended for older players.

GF said this.

Is this the part where we complain that GF should've kept Challenge Mode, but didn't because they're Game Freak?

Probably, because we always have to complain about something.

Yeah, people complain about Exp. Share, they still don't turn it off.

GSC is still easier

the E4 is a complete joke. 40 - 50 isnt challenging and the gyms were a breeze. the only downside to X and Y was that the gyms had limited the gym leader's Pokemon to 3 which is bs imo.

Level 40-50 Elite Four is certainly no joke when you solo'd the game with your Starter and it's still only level 43. >.<

This. The opponent Pokémon's levels in GSC were that low for a reason.

Funny, except that isn't "challenge mode", that's "intentionally handicap yourself to create artificial difficulty mode". The real challenge mode, one of the few, if only good things introduced in the otherwise awful Gen 5 legitimately increased the difficulty of the game by adding things like additional Pokemon for Gym Leaders. The fatal flaw of it was obviously the fact that you had to beat the game regularly first to unlock it.

Zangoose is the one good Pokemon that came after Gen 1, everything else about Gen 3, as well as gens 2, 4, 5 and 6 is awful. I do not like Gen 3, just Zangoose.

The reason being, the leveling curve was total rubbish.

How are you handicapping yourself? You would play pretty much the same way as in previous gens.

aside from the dubious AI, the games really are as challenging or as easy as you choose to make them. experience share, pokemon amie (or w/e it's called), farming for beneficial natures, ev training, etc is all optional.

"You can turn off the Exp. Share" is a horrible excuse. It's like saying "Oh, then don't pick up any mushrooms in Super Mario Bros. if you find that too easy" or "never upgrade your classes" in Final Fantasy 1.

Artificially making yourself weaker is like playing table tennis against a 6-year-old with your weaker hand just to give them a chance. That's not real challenge.
