So, we've heard (or at least I have) rationalizations on certain type chart quirks that aren't obvious. Bugs break Psychic's concentration, it's hard to punch a bird, etc... But how does this apply to certain moves?
X-Scissor is Bug-type but tends to be available to Pokemon with blades or blade-like appendages. How then does it retain its Bug properties when Weavile or Excadrill uses it? Do swinging 2 blades in an X-formation break a Psychic's concentration moreso than a single blade (Slash) would?
Similarly, Power Whip involves swinging a vine or, according to the move description, tentacles. How does it retain its water-absorbing, erosion-inducing properties when Goodra or Lickilicky uses it?
How does Aqua Tail remain "aqua" when Rhyperior uses it?
How does Focus Blast, a blast of mental energy, have the same type properties as Close Combat rather than Psychic?
How does hitting an opponent with two brutal chops become Dragon-type (Dual Chop)?
How can Crobat use Brave Bird?
Perhaps I'm looking into it too much. --- 3DS: 1779-0958-5275 Pokemon Y IGN: Ichmael Member of the Official Good Trader/Cloners/Breeders/Non-Scammers Guild
Well then we get into problems like Shell Smash Smeargle.
I always assumed it just smashed a seashell or something next to it and that somehow gives it the +2 offenses/-1 defenses. --- 3DS: 1779-0958-5275 Pokemon Y IGN: Ichmael Member of the Official Good Trader/Cloners/Breeders/Non-Scammers Guild
