Well, how can Head Smash be rock type when Aegislash uses it?

"Head" Smash on a sword-and-shield didn't make any sense either.

this one is actually possible, a sword is of steel, which is made of refined material that comes from rocks...

Though to answer OPs question, same way that Charizard can summon a rock in super smash bros brawl to use as a weapon...

Yes, this is a signature.

Steel is an alloy made from iron and carbon -_-. How is that rock?

Iron and other metals are often found in rocks, but not in a pure state. They form compounds that are separated so you get the iron. At least that's what I imagine, since other metals are found in this fashion.

Anyway, Head Smash makes no sense in Aegislash. Aegislash doesn't have a head.

No no, you're getting it all wrong.

Aegislash smashes into your head.

When I first knew he learned the move, I though he somehow hit his opponent with the handle of the sword. Though why would the handle do more damage than the blade is a mystery.

Pokemon has its own set of physics/rules of reality. I bet Game Freak lacks even a decent explanation on how the physics/rules in the Pokemon world works, which is pretty obvious from the Pokedex entrees.

That's the only way it can make some sense.
