Well, when I was a beginner, I had a Blaziken with Sky Uppercut, Blaze Kick, Fire Blast, and Brave Bird. I had a little bit of coverage there. There's no excuse for using four Fire type moves like that.

And then there was my Weavile with Dark Pulse and Blizzard.

My only exception would be something like having flamethrower and fire blast just for when I needed to do big damage. The other would be something like having a mix set for a pokemon and giving it a physical and special move of the same type
