Pokemon that have fallen from grace?

#1MagikarpusPosted 4/24/2014 3:13:29 AM
What are some pokes that at one time were top tier OU threats but over time have become bad over time?

Things like Snorlax, Starmie, Infernape.

Articuno

Once was a great defensive option, with not as many rock/fighting moves distributed on pokes. Now it is the most common arena hazard, and fighting is one of the most common moves. Also lost Blizzard accuracy. This thing was once a defensive D-nite slayer but is nothing but UU/NU now.

Swampert. Previous a very solid tank and a great user of Curse. But the power creep of generations after it hit it hard. This was made worse with gifts to other Water/Ground types, such as Gastrodon's improved Storm Drain and Quagsire gaining Unaware, forcing poor old Swampert out of the elite circle.

Rhydon and Golem. Two of Gen 1's most sturdy Pokemon that just couldn't keep up with the changing game. Rhydon is at least potentially useable with an Eviolite, but Golem really has pretty much nothing going for it anymore.

Starmie is still good, ever hear of Minimize, Substitute, Recover, Scald? The only reason people think it's bad is because Smogon had to ban Minimize because they couldn't beat it.

Zangoose is the one good Pokemon that came after Gen 1, everything else about Gen 3, as well as gens 2, 4, 5 and 6 is awful. I do not like Gen 3, just Zangoose.
