Have the producers for the anime ever explained why they won't allow Ash to age?

80/80

The boy has traveled several regions all ready and it can't all be possibly done within a year or two, so he has to be more than 10 years old. Heck even allowing him to age a little bit would've at least acknowledged that he's maturing. I understand that they want to keep him a main character and can't let him get "too" old, but geez... can they really keep him going longer as the 10 year old boy from Pallet Town?

He drains the years away from his companions, primarily the female ones.

Brock was immune to this.

I've heard some rumors (most from gamefaqs admittedly) that the reason behind Ash not aging is to allow him to continue to suck as a trainer so he can give lil chillun the life lesson of determination and failure does occur.

No... he just no-selled the black magic that would shorten his lifespan.

His Drying Pan is his weapon of choice, though... so I understand the confusion.

Because they want a character that kids will be able to relate to in some ways. If Ash aged he would be in his late 20's now and that isn't the age group they're targeting with the show or even the games.
