C/D: Poison is an excellent defensive typing

The fact that some of the better posion types aren't affected by ground (Crobat, Wheezing) makes it a good type, since hardly anyone uses psychic attacks.

Poison types themselves are pretty terrible though. Bad stats and there are no decent poison attacks on par with Thunderbolt or Energy Ball, the best 100% accuracy moves are in the 70BP range.

Sludge Bomb: 90 BP, 100 accuracy
Sludge Wave: 95 BP, 100 accuracy

How was this even an oversight? Sludge Bomb is pretty much the go-to Poison move because of its distribution.

Downright ignorance of the Poison type, as Sludge Bomb has been the Poison attack of choice since Generation II.

The only excellent defensive typing there is is Steel. So no.

How does receiving double damage from the three top offensive types make it "excellent defensive typing"?

They're the top three offensive types because they hit Steel super effectively.

Beat me to it. Similarly, I doubt people would be constantly raving about Ice being a "Amazing offensive type," if it wasn't one of the few weaknesses of the ever-popular Dragon type.

More on topic, no, poison is not a good defensive type, because in comparison to Steel, nothing is a good defensive type. The only thing Poison has over Steel is a fighting resistance, and it's still weak to Earthquake, which every physical attacker and their mother carries. Plus, the majority of the types poison does resist are almost as bad offensively as Poison itself: Fairy has poor distribution, Grass as a type has near-perpetually been a laughingstock on offense and defense, bug has had it similarly rough, and Poison... Well, that gets redundant.

Poison is actually above average as a defensive type, its only real crippling weakness is Ground since Psychic is a lol attacking type at the moment.

You mean: They're the three top offensive types because it receives double damage from them.

Also mega venusaur. I go modest cuz I don't like playing a pure stall set, but it is naturally pretty bulky and with thick fat, giga drain, and synthesis it is hard to take down
