Favorite move from each generation?

#1Zelda_AranPosted 8/1/2014 4:39:50 PM
With each new game, we get a slew of new moves. Which is your favorite from each one?

Mine are:

Gen 1: Thunder Wave The first gen has tons of wacky moves i'd love to put here, like metronome, transform, egg bomb, etc. But i decided to go with the move that inflicts one of my favorite status conditions. It made me very troubled when they removed Thunder Wave as a TM in gens 2-3, but i was happy when it became a TM again.

Gen 2: Baton Pass While this move saw a controversial ban in recent times, the idea behind this move has always intrigued me. It opens up a slew of options that i can't even begin to go into detail on. One of the more unconventional strategies i've seen is baton passing a boost from ancient power.

Gen 3: Sheer Cold OHKO moves are quite interesting. It caught me by surprise when they made one in gen 3 that pulled out all of the stops. No flying or ghost type will be safe!

Gen 4: X-Scissor It irritated me so much in gens 1-3 how bug types had such limited access to decently damaging bug moves. Gen 2 had the weak fury cutter, and that was it. X-Scissor was one of the main bug moves that made me love the bug type again. Why it took three gens later for Scyther and Pinsir to get a decent bug move i will never know, but it was one of many reasons that convinced me that the newer generations of games had some decent ideas.

Gen 5: Psyshock i actually haven't played gen 5, but this move is rather interesting! It gives high special attackers a way to deal with special walls. Plus, it also reminds me of the old TCG Abra that had this move...i always thought Psyshock sounded cool.

Gen 6: Freeze Dry Another cool idea! It opens up a slew of fun 4x weaknesses on pokemon such as Kingdra, Gyrados, and the water/ground types. It's distribution is low, of course.

Some moves have radically changed properties from one gen to the next, so if you wish, you could post the gen that has the version of that move you like best (for example, roar/whirlwind).

Another Honorable mention:

Gen 1: Egg Bomb This move is mostly useless to Blissey and Exeggutor, but it's still a fun and cool looking move! I hope it gets a buff and some wider distribution.
