Does anyone have advice for making a rain dance team?

#1safeguardePosted 12/11/2013 11:21:12 PM
I'm interested in creating one, but I'm not sure what the best pokemon to use in competitive play are.

so far i have:

azumarill 252 hp/ 252 atk/ 6 spd

play rough
aqua jet
super power
rain dance

floatzel 252 atk/ 220 s atk/ 32 speed

ice beam
aqua jet
crunch
brick break

greninja 252 s atk/ 252 spd/ 6 hp

u turn
ice beam
surf
extrasensory

electrode 252 atk/ 252 spd/ 6 hp

rain dance
light screen
protect
explosion

I don't have a sixth pokemon yet, but that's what I need help on. I'm thinking that I would need a tank pokemon, but I have no idea what kind is good to have that can also refresh rain dance if needed. Any advice?

Also floatzel could be replaced. There are better water types. Also heliolisk w/dry skin

POLITOAD. drizzle. Enough said :p

heliolisk and toxicroak work great because of dry skin. Both play a little differently. Toxicroak w\ black sludge and substitute/ drain punch makes it a staller. Guess you could do leftovers and parabolic charge for heliolisk too. But I prefer thunder/ surf/ grass knot\ hp ice

Rotom-w is practically a staple on rain teams. And so is starmie is because of its thunder\ice beam\hydro pump\rapid spin set

I always use ferrothorn on my rain teams. It's big weakness is fire, which is weakened by the rain, giving you a good tank

Any pokemon with hydration. If you use rest, you get fully healed and then wake up right away ;)

Also no matter what changes you make, make sure to have 2 pokemon that can set rain. And remember the same rock item

I'd give more suggestions, But I'm not near my 3ds to see my team at the moment

I have a rain team that consists of:

Politoed (Drizzle)
Heliolisk (Dry Skin)
Lapras (Water Absorb)
Ludicolo (Rain Dish)
Kabutops (Swift Swim)
Qwilfish (Swift Swim)

It does very very well. I use it for Triples only, though. Qwilfish is my spiker and has Explosion (just in case). Ludicolo I made as a tank. Politoed is my Scalder and setup (plus he's fairly tanky). Lapras knows Thunder, Ice Beam & Surf for type coverage, then of course Heliolisk for awesome immunity to water and STAB Thunder.

It does very well in the Battle Spot, but I haven't really tried taking it on the ladder yet. I'm sure it'll get stomped where people actually know what they're doing.

Lol, mad people beat me to it. WHERE IS POLITOED?

Also, Swift Swim Kingdra for mixed attacks. Don't know why you'd want Greninja on the team, unless yours is Torrent ability...

If you wanted to cast Rain Dance, Bronzong is probably a better option than Electrode.

All of these are availible in Friend Safari. Personally, I went with Sun, but only cuz I have Charizardite Y and got a Drought Ninetales from... FRIEND SAFARI. Seriously, Friend Safari is OP

Don't be rude. You might as well call me a "mad people" also. Rain team is a dangerous set up especially azumarill. I don't know how people are getting the new unreleased berries (increases water damage power berries) that are not available YET in X/Y. With Azumaril's berry water power + rain dance + aqua jet... It's over. Weak water pokemon is able to knock down even the heaviest & bulkiest HP pokemon out there, except one pokemon at 10% life...snorlax.
