I've looked around the whole city but can't find where to unlock or buy the other characters?

I had the same problem at first. Pretty much you have to find a SHEILD vehicle access point (press select and look for SHIELD logo icons, select it as a waypoint)

They are all over and grant you access to character purchases and act as a way point between NYC and the Helicarrier.

Also, I am still figuring out how to switch characters on the fly in NYC, it seems Holding Triangle is what you are supposed to do but a lot of times it won't work or it just makes your character transform, it is kind of broken.

Pretty much press Select, locate character icons and set them as your waypoint, follow the RED ghost studs (deadpool too) and it will lead you to where you need to go to find the characters. A lot of times they lead you to a certain area where you will need to do something like skydive off a building and go through each ring of studs (use Iron Man, he can just slowly float to make it easier)

I had trouble with that at first too, but it's not broken at all. If a character has a transformation, just press and hold triangle again as they are performing the transformation.

Holding Triangle while in Free Play brings up the character menu. On transforming characters, simply wait until their mid transform animation, and try holding Triangle again; it should pop up.

To the OP: When you're in free play, unlocking a character is as simple as holding Triangle, selecting their silhouette from the grid, and press "Buy"

Note: you can only buy characters you have unlocked. Unlocking them usually involves completing a side quest or finding their token hidden through out the map. But the villains you've encountered via the campaign should be available for purchase.

If you are not done with the campaign and are not doing Free Play, then you need to find a SHIELD computer and bring up the character screen to purchase them.

I just wish they used more than just the face buttons. I mean there are 4 trigger buttons and one of them would be perfect for a transform button while triangle still could be used as normal to switch and swap characters.

So they should have just made EVERY trigger button the transform button and kept triangle the same. Why did they have to add even more things to a single button?

Can you, say, unlock Ant-Man or Cyclops if you've not yet found them in the story?

It seems you are the only one whining. I think this is a great game, I am just baffled by the idea of making the triangle button do 3 different things, two of which involve holding the button down. It couldn't be difficult to assign one of those actions to a different button.

It is a LEGITIMATE complaint.
