Yogi_3000 posted...So what are the deffinitions for a port and a remake? A port is just the same game on a different hardware, maybe with upgraded visuals, while a remake offers updated grafics and entirly new content? Or is a remake a new interpretation of the old game?
Please explain, thank you :)
A port is pretty much just as the word suggests, the game is ported over to another system. If it's a remake, then everything is actually remade.
For instance, according to Nintendo, everything in Ocarina of Time 3D was remade from the ground up, from the character models to the models used everywhere else in the game. That means that it is a remake. If something had been ported over from the original (or any of the ports that came out on GC or VC), then it would be a port.
A lot of people seem to think that it has something to do with the new content that's added or things like that, but the bottom line is that if nothing's ported over, it's a remake. If some things are ported over and some things remade, then it's an enhanced port, and if everything's just ported over, it's a port.
