I hope this is more along the lines of Saga than Blade...ewww yuck!

At least in terms of a thought-provoking story. I miss the philosophical & religious themes. XB felt, in comparison, like a Saturday afternoon special. Saga showed that gaming stories and characters could rival the best literature and film, but the industry has since retracted that competence...

What y'all think this is going to be like?

I don't know if I feel like your opinion of XB versus saga is any less "snobby" (for lack of a better word) than the idea that I'm sure most hold that even Saga couldn't hold it's weight against literature and film.

I would be perfectly happy with anything crafted as carefully as XB, except perhaps with less odd details surrounding it's ending.

I can think of tons of films and books that any Xeno game is deeper than. O.o

Good luck for any video game beating the best literature though...

I liked Blade's level of story though.

It's a half -joke, y'all. I just was extremely let down by XB's story after such strong runs with the first four games.

I think they are shooting for a story more like Gears and Saga this time. The reason being that Xenoblade was not originally a Xeno game. They did use similar themes, but the depth was not there, and I think that is because it was changed to a Xeno game late in development. This looks like it will be a Xeno game right off the bat though.

Takahashi has already admitted he wasn't really trying with Xenoblade's story.

Wow, really?

So he didn't just lose it like the team over at Square Enix? That's excellent news. So here's to hoping we can have a story-focused game this go around.

In terms of story Xenogears beats both Saga and Blade. But in the gameplay and setting department Blade blows the others away. I really hope they keep the gameplay from Blade and the huge free-roaming world.

I think everybody can agree that Gears and Saga had a deeper story then Blade however Xenoblade's was still very good for a JRPG in my opinion along with the excellent English voice acting it really did me pull me into the world and be able to relate to the characters.

So really nobody's saying Xenoblade's story is better then Gears or Saga but nobody can really deny that Xenoblade's story is still very good and enjoyable for a JRPG (especially with the excellent voice acting in both japanese and english dub)
