Anyone know how the main character's skills are decided?

Having played Xenoblade Chronicles, I never liked playing as Shulk and hoping that I would be able to play the main character as more of a spellcaster like Melia if possible. Are they letting us choose a skill set from the beginning, have a wild variety of skills that we can pick and choose from, or is the info just not out yet?

I would be willing to forgive so much more if you were not blatantly trying to lie to me.

It looks like we're getting various classes for the main character, from which we'll probably get skills/arts.

There are various classes that you can change into on the fly, any time you want. You can mix and match skills from these various classes, in order to make a sort of "hybrid" class if you so wish.

That's explained in one of these videos, I believe.

I think it's the top/first video that I linked, but I decided to include the second one in case I remembered incorrectly. Sorry I couldn't tell you the exact minute/second, but I wasn't paying attention to the minutes/seconds while I watched them yesterday.

On the fly sorta implies doing something in battle. I dont think they said such a thing aside form ranged and melee weaps.

Yeah, just the ranged and melee weapon thing.

Personally looking at the class menu, I think the player character will be able to be anything they want, where possibly NPCs are locked. (Class menu had no character choice unlike equipment or artes.)

"Now, one different thing about Xenoblade Chronicles X is that you can change classes on the fly, even in battle."

That quote begins at the 40:02 mark in this video:

Damn. Sounds imba on paper. Technically though shulk had access to a second set of arts so if its just a main character thing itll probably work out. Question is how many classes can be cycled through

Did you realize you could play as Melia instead in Xenoblade? You could switch the party around as much as you wanted. You don't even need Shulk (outside of his Monado powers) for a lot of the game.

The MC has 16 classes to choose from.
1 class->3 branching classes->2 branching paths of 2 classes each
