Is this suppose to be a sequel to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island?

If so, I am definately getting this, that was one of my favorite games on the SNES back in the day.

I am liking how Nintendo is going back to their awesome SNES and N64 titles and making sequels to them, like ALBW.

I don't see how it would more of a sequel to the DS game over the original.

I see. I guess I just want to pretend that Yoshi's Island DS didn't happen.

yoshi's island ds is a solid 2-d platformer. it's really not a "Sequel" persay, but more of an "expansion pack." new levels, new babies, new bosses.

Yoshi's Island DS isn't bad per se, but it's almost like the developers just took a book called "How to make a Yoshi's Island Game" and followed it to the letter, The game is competently made but it just...lacks a soul for lack of a better phrase. The game is just kind of there.

... No, that's called a sequel.

New levels, mechanics, a new story, and new enemies is exactly what makes a sequel. I mean, if Yoshi's Island DS is an expansion pack then just about every sequel ever is just an expansion pack.

Apparently, according to some impressions of the game, the story starts literally at the end of Yoshi's Island, with the parents being given the baby Mario Bros. The DS game starts well after that ending scene, in a village with lots of babies.

So like, is this a sequel to the DS game or for whatever reason a midquel? I know hurrhurr Mario canon, but I thought of the Yoshi games involving the babies, it was Yoshi's Island>Yoshi's Island DS>Yoshi's Story.
