is it me, or...

Does it seem like some of the green and red arrows on items, for damage, armor, and vitality are wrong? I have a pair of boots with 169 armor and +164 dexterity, and it says its armor rating is lower than a pair with 133 armor and no dexterity bonus.

Does it have Strength? Every point in Strength is equal to 1 armor. You'd only need 30 something Strength to equal 169.

Something else to note is that middle section is not just armor. It refers to your overall defenses. So as an example, an item may have lower armor but still show as a high defensive improvement if it has high all resist.

Yes, any Dex that gives you dodge, or Int that gives you all resist; even gear that gives you life on hit/on kill/life from health globes will contribute to the defense rating. I guess a common misconception is that since the symbol is a shield, it must be armor right? Wrong lol.

So for the actual rating of the armor, I'd want to look at just the armor and strength bonus?

That's what makes up the armor yes, but other factors are involved when the defensive arrow is determined. That's all we're saying.

The arrows are a combination of multiple stats, it's better to pay attention to the actual stats of the equipment

That has no affect on the defense rating at all.
