Stand alone games that provide small story bonuses. It was a fantastic setup.

It gives a great opportunity to become acquainted with the game mechanics, has somewhat of a side plot, and rewards you in-game for your effort. Beautiful idea. I thoroughly enjoyed the demo. Made me get the game.

...What are some differences between the demo and the actual game?

I generally shy away from demos; but apparently I seem to have missed out on something in BD's case.

Nothing really, they just give you a copy of everything in the Item/Armor/Weapon shop from the first town + allows you to transfer up to 20 villagers for Norende.

It is useful for someone who can't Street Pass/Net Invite.
