Kaz's Voice acting

I like the fact that Kaz sounds alot like Master Miller from MGS1 and I liked how the guy who voices him also voices Travis Touchdown, but now that I'm replaying Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes, it's come to my attention that Downes isn't exactly the best voice actor in the world, I liked Touchdown's performance but I have no idea why he isnt great in delivering Kaz's lines (Especially when he gets butthurt over Paz) and I don't appear to be the only one who thinks Kaz's voice actor isn't that great, do you think he's a good voice or not?

He isn't the best, which was fine in the level of cheese that MGS used to have, but with this straight faced somber new MGS, he just seems out of place.

He was atrocious in the chopper scene. Some of the outright worst voice acting I've heard in years. And I even played through some of Skyrim.

"They played us like a damn fiddle! GIVE IT BACK!"

Yeah, I don't know. I thought he was fine in Peace Walker, but he seems off in this. He sounds bored during gameplay, and almost like he is over acting in the cutscenes.

I mean, I get it, the dude just lost everything...but it didn't sound believable.

Is this some kind of joke?
ALL of the voice actors have maintained their same level of quality (Chico, Emmerich, Kaz, Paz). The ONLY one who sounds out of place is Big Boss because he's the only one who's trying to sound "down to Earth". And by that I actually mean bland as ****.

It's the voice director. The studio produces a ton of inconsistent and hammy performances.

He was great in the red band trailer though.

"The world calls for wet work, and we'll answer it! No greater good... no just cause."

Not sure how he was so awful in the final cutscene of this, he handled emotion just fine in that E3 trailer. Maybe just a misstep.

I thought he was just fine in the rest of GZ though.
