Dragon Ball: Xenoverse

I know alot of people (including me) hate the fact that SSGSS Goku gets nearly killed (senzu bean) by a beam rifle (looked like a ring to me...).
There are too many scenes to list that would discredit the fact that a super powerful person with lowered guard would not get hurt by such a weapon.
BUT there is one scene (filler) where goku and gohan are relaxing near a lake in their ssj forms, and krillin throws a rock at Goku and it hurts him.... so if that scene is taken as canon then i guess it can kinda work >.>

I just think they put that in there to put emphasis on what Whis said about goku letting his guard down

ya, that's the part i'm referring to being a bunch of BS.... so what if he let his guard down, a laser shouldn't hurt him when he is in his new shiny god form. Especially when cell who didnt have his guard up took a destructo disc to the neck and didnt have a scratch.

Cell being weaker then SSGSS Goku, Destructo Disc being more powerful then a simple laser weapon...

Haven't seen it, but I've heard of this plenty of times. It sounds like straight BS. Is it from one of Freeza's men? Is his powerlevel anywhere near Goku's? If he's barely at Cell level, than it's beyond BS, but if he's higher, it could put emphasis on how weak Goku truly is. Yet, that wouldn't make sense in any way... I don't even know, Akira has never been a great writer.

I wonder what Toriyama would say in an interview? Goku simply let his guard down entirely? The ring was magic? It was modified by Frieza? Saiyan kryptonite?

It is a double edged sword. On the positive side, it was set up by Whis that Gokus weakness is that he's to relaxed, and it comes to bite him in the ass during the movie, and it nearly gets him killed. I can appreciate that Toriyama is giving Goku a little character arch. I think it's neat that he's putting in that effort. On the negative side, the blast probably shouldn't have been able to hurt him, and Toriyama should have just had sorbet distract goku for a second, and Frieza hits him with a death beam. It doesn't bother me that much though, since I feel like that have been worse instances of writing in dbz, I think people think that this is a new low or something, but I disagree. I think there has been worse writing. At least there is a positive to it, or at least to me there is.
