Squirtle. It was Red though.

I even trained more pokemon the first time through instead of just Squirtle/Wartortle/Blastoise. :'D Pidgeot and Raichu iirc.

I'm extremely proud.

I seem to always start with Bulbasaur.

I sometimes like to beat the entire game with just Bulba/Ivy/Venusaur. God bless my level 100, fully stat boosted Venusaur with his 40pp Razor Leaf.

Squirtle, Blue

Squirtle. In Red/Blue/Yellow, I always use Squirtle. In Gold/Silver/Crystal, I always use Cyndaquil. In Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, I use Torchic or Mudkip, and always Pochama or Turtwig in Diamond/Pearl.

Mah list of awesome people, in quote.

usually Charmander. Bulbasaur is probably technichally the best starter, and Squirtle is a good pokemon, but there aren't that many fire types, whereas grass/poison types are abundant, and pure water types are the most common pokemon in the game. So charmander is generally the best bet.
