here are the ivs i found for him: hp:4 attack:15 def:4 special:14 speed:15.
it makes me weep because hes an offensive god but those defensive stats... ugh... but hes so godly offensively, and ik gengar usually takes an offensive role... yet those defenses are just atrocious... any advice?

It does seem rather useful, but as someone will no doubt say soon, the IVs don't really count ingame, and you'll be very fortunate to find someone to compete against via stadium or in link battle.

Nice find anyway, with 2 max IVs and 1 IV just 1 point off maximum.

On a side note, in Gen 1 & 2, IVs are generally called "DVs" - they do the same job in the end though (just there's half as many potential DVs in Gen 1 & 2 as there are IVs in later games - just think of IV values in Gen 3 onward as Gen 1 & 2 DVs with "fine-tuning" by adding mid-points between the values), and everyone who still hangs around will know what you're referring to.

so yeah... assuming for a competitve set, is this sufficient or do i need another? also it seems this game loves giving me offensive gods w/ s***ty defenses. i got a mew w/ 15 attack, 15 speed, 15 special, 0-7 defense, and 8-14 hp. i decided to keep him anyway, cuz uk what? im never gonna see another mew w/ triple 15s like that. this guys a sweeper for sure.

DV hunting adds another grinding to the game, which can be fun. It's kind of like MFing in Diablo 2.

Anyway, hang on to that Gengar and when you get a better one, just replace him. Or, you could just keep multiples until you get one that replaces all of them.

It's kind of like MFing in Diablo 2.

What's more likely, a Zod rune drop or a Pokemon with perfect DVs?

All things being equal there is a 1:1,048,576 chance of getting a poke with 5 15's (16^5) and Baal has a 1:178728 chance of droping a zod. So you decide if getting to and killing baal is the equivilent of catching 6 pokemon.

Interesting. I was leaning towards the Zod being rarer.

In the last few patches they have made Zod progressivly easier to get.

The HP value is determined by your other four DVs.

It's only a 1/16^4 chance giving you a 1/65536 chance of catching one.

Basically, HP works like this:

+8 if Attack DV is odd

+4 if Defense DV is odd

+2 if Speed DV is odd

+1 if Special DV is odd

It would be nicer if HP was more linked to defense or special. They're the other defense stats and special is always useful.
