I was sure I it was possible to soul trap dagoth ur, vivec or almalexia if you use azuras star. Ive just got to dagoth ur and all my soul trap spells / enchantments are failing to get a target, is this normal, am I doing something wrong? Or is it in fact not possible to soul trap them?

Well, when I did a google search for "soul trap dagoth ur" (no quotes) the first link that came up said that Dagoth Ur's soul has a value of 0 so you can't trap it.

Anyway, I know you can trap the Tribunals'. I believe they even allow constant effect enchants

Also, google is a very effective way to find information

Thanks for the quick and accurate reply.Wouldnt you say that if you have a specific query about a particular aspect of a certain game then a board such as this would be a better first stop than google?

Absolutely! Why take a few seconds - or minutes if you're particularly slow - to do something yourself, when instead you can trouble others to figure it out for you and wait exponentially longer?

You'll have to forgive Jonas, he doesn't like to think before he posts.

I don't mean to be rude but helpful (unlike some). Seriously, any and every aspect of most every game like this that I've played, you take the name of the game and two or three keywords regarding what you are doing, and you can immediately find what you are looking for. Or you can go the less-immediate and potentially troll-riddled path of a message board.

That's just my opinion, though. I wouldn't presume to dictate to you about something like this. It's my personal preference, though, to see what's available on the first page or two of one of the bigger search engines, and if there's nothing then I see if there's information from people on a message board. I've always found it a pretty effective and troll-free SOP.

Your choice, but as you see there are always some that want to drag you down for whatever reason.

Ignoring that fellow under the bridge--
I don't think it's unreasonable to ask here first. Presumably the people on this board have already ironed out most of the kinks in the game, so asking for their help is merely a shortcut.
Of course, it presumes that the people here actually want to be helpful.

I've found some very helpful tips, hints and solutions here. The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Wiki is also very helpful. You can find it here:

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,660 for soultrap dagoth ur. (0.45 seconds)

First result:

Same question - cannot get soultrap target - same answer - soul value zero, not possible to do.

Less than a minute to complete this search, peruse the given links, and type this up to this point. Less than a minute. Had this been my question, I could have had my answer in a substantially shorter amount of time and not wasted others' time with a frivolous question.

But again - why would I want to do something for myself when I can have others do it for me and take up a lot more time in the process?

"Ignoring that fellow under the bridge--"

Much like in the other thread where I answered the user's question and you disregarded it - justified hostility is not trolling, especially when it's also got useful, relevant advice like my post in this thread. What a sheltered world you must live in.

I got Almalexia in Azura's Star once. I didn't really have any idea of what to do with it, so I just kept it on my mantlepiece as a trophy. The thing is, try as I might, I could never bag her again in later games. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. Did I use Umbra that first time? I can't remember.
By the way, Alma's soul was worth 7.5 million bucks! Nobody can afford her, though, so selling isn't an option, and it seems a waste to use her to enchant some lousy boots or something.

I've since had to replace my harddrive after a crash, and now I have to reinstall and start all over again. GRRRR!!!! That's why I'm here, in fact, to try to pick up some lost knowledge about things like unpacking BSA'a and getting mods to work and such. It's been awhile, you see.

Reacting with hostility when someone asks you for help is a sign that you need some help yourself.
