Koga no GoshiPosted 6/27/2012 2:09:52 AM | I don't even want to talk about Daggerall, which sucks because it seems pretty neat. At least I'm with you guys in one way. I didn't like Skyrim at all. I guess it's what Oblivion was to Morrowind fans.
Well at least if you're able to see that in perspective I can refrain from jumping on you, lol. If you mean it felt like an unnecessary dumb-down that removed a lot of things for no real good reason, yup, that's how we felt.
Touching on something Oracle had mentioned much earlier (possibly in another thread? I get confused sometimes where we discussed what), Oracle had quite aptly pointed out that the end sum on Oblivion is that it removed a LOT, but there wasn't a tradeoff. What improved was graphics (which would have improved in any newer game anyway) and to a degree the combat, but there was no 'big' improvement that traded off everything that was taken out. That table... and actually read it, you'll see why Morrowind fans were pretty annoyed. It's one thing to just hear people saying "they dumbed down TES a lot", but if you look at that list, a LOT of stuff got gutted from the game as the series progressed. Sure, we could nitpick over a few of them and say "well removing that wasn't a big loss", but in the end tally, a LOT got taken out and very very little added to compensate for it. Resulting in a shallower, less varied and less deep experience overall, with a lot less to the gameplay. --- "Koga no Goshi, I agree with everything you've said, and I've read all of it. turn_basedPosted 6/27/2012 2:35:52 PM | But, I can poison the tip of my arrow now!
And the tip of my dagger. And the tip of my sword. AND the edge of my axe! AND the flat part of my WARHMAMMER!
Wait, what?
YUP! And the poison is so strong it works through a shield block!

I'm not actually sure if I've ever used a probe. Traps are few and far between and it usually doesn't matter if you get hurt by one. How often do you pick a trap then get in a fight before you can rest? On topic, I've never actually finished Bloodmoon. I've started perhaps a dozen files with the sole intent of beating it, Morrwind/Tribunal bedamned, but I think I've only ever gotten as far as the werewolves attacking the keep. I'm not sure if it's the walking through empty wastelands or the disconnection with the rest of the game, but it just doesn't hold my attention. --- ...and that's how I came to be known as the Flourescent Haberdasher. |
