Operation Flashpoint 2 vs ArmA II

I have been waiting on both titles for some time now. ArmA II should actually be named Operation Flashpoint 3 because the development team (Bohemia) worked on the original Flashpoint. Operation Flashpoint 2 is really just a new game developed by a new team from Codemasters. I have high hopes for both titles but I wonder which game will come out on top as far as review scores and "the ultimate military/tactical game".
ArmA II looks to be later in the beta phase while Flashpoint 2 is in pre-Alpha.
Expect ArmA II sometime in Q1 09 and Flashpoint 2 in Q2 09.
Both teams look to be raising the bar with graphics and realism but who do you think will come on top?
Good question. OFP2 has a huge publisher behind it so it will likely be more polished out of the box since it is less likely to be rushed but both games are striving for realism and both look very good so far. IN the end, we hardcore wargamers are the real winners.
I have my big doubts about Codemasters' realism in OFP2, therefore pratically kills what Operation Flashpoint was all about.
When it comes to graphics (current in-game):
I can tell you right now that the sky I'm looking at right now (at home) is not purple.
4 IN 1 at BI Forums said it in a pretty good way "REAL IS BROWN" (link)
Both look good but I like the top one better which is ArmA II.
Too early to say until the games get further in development, and we see more gameplay videos. Game videos at this point are very early builds and should not be judges too harshly.
Dude dude, watch the new vid. Both games are striving for realism.
doesnt look like they did a whole lot with arma 2,specially with all the bugs,bad sound effects, and not to good gameplay arma ruined arma 2 for me, i think ofp will come out on top without a fight.
Considering Operation Flashpoint 2 isnt based off of Virtual Battlespace, which is what makes OFP and Arma so realistic. And the fact that OFP2 isnt even developed by BI, I thinks its safe to say it wont be anywhere near the realism levels of OFP/Arma/VBS.
If it isnt based off Virtual Battlespace its not worth playing.
from what i've seen of arma 2 gameplay, most of the sounds seem to be reused from arma. Codemasters is saying their game is going to be loud and chaotic like real vehicles and weapons are, i hope they pull it off though.
Well, it's still a work in progress, and sounds come near last. You can, however, listen to a preview of the sounds.
Personally, I think it sounds awesome, and I hope they keep this high standard for all sounds.
