I'm play the part where you save the village from being destroyed and you shoot the zepplins is there a certian way to do this I love the game funny and I just stuck please help
What's the mission name/number?
I just started last night and I'm up to the one where you save the sheep (mission 6 I think). I kept on being hit by one airship which really began to annoy me. I discovered quite quickly that unless they're low enough to give you the lock-on reticule you can't shoot them down. You need to man a turret and then they're easy - at least if you find a turret which gives you the right traverse angles.
For all of its humour (which hasn't hit my funny bone as much as I hoped yet) it's certainly not always an easy game on your first run through a level. I died a couple of times facing the giant mech thing in the snow and was blown up outside the pub in the sheep mission three times before I realised it was the airship dropping bombs.
It reminds me very much, for obvious reasons, of MDK and Giants: CK both of which could be tough but I really enjoyed.
I'm guessing the mission is one of the turret missions, they seem pretty easy but are escalating each time with more waves, more aircraft dropping stuff and a couple of airships turned up on the last one I did too.
So I suspect the one you're stuck on is going to be the next one for me with more airships. I think the thing to do is take them out quickly as soon as the targeting reticule locks and remember you have rockets too.
It is a good little game of it's type, good controls, well designed, occasionally quite clever and, on Normal difficulty, tough enough to be interesting.. I'm rather enjoying it but although the voice acting and script are truly excellent the humour still isn't clicking with me.
I see what you mean - that mission is a bit of a toughy. I did it after about 8 serious attempts and completed the game last night.
Initially I couldn't get a handle on an effective technique, I kept on going back down that tunnel to reload with rockets and trying to take the Zeppelins out with the fixed turret cannon there as they passed by. That just isn't fast enough.
I'm still not sure whether this a timed mission or requires you to take out a certain number of Zeppelins. I think it's the former. One thing for sure is that if the paratroops they drop are allowed to run about unchecked they'll eventually destroy all the buildings.
You can't be everywhere so what I did is order the Lionhearts to defend the area just in front of the two 'stone' ramps leading up to the higher parts of the village. If they're positioned well they'll also do some damage to those coming down the grassy slope too.
I took out the first two Zeppelins using the machine gun and then went up the grassy slope to take out a third. Then I ran up the ramp to the Pub and got the Shark gun. I quickly took out another Zeppelin with rockets, ran to collect the Token too and then re-entered the Pub to reload.
Next I rushed along the top path down to the fixed machine gun overlooking the central part of the village. It's by a house at the top of the left side 'stone' ramp. Paratroops in the vincinity were dealt with using the Shark gun. This is vital because they'll swim around covering your back when you enter the machine gun.
Then it was a case of taking out as many Zeppelins as possible before they drop paratroops. I downed five and there was a lull so I exited the machine gun, collected Shark ammo launched it at ther nearest paratroops and collected more ammo and health from the vicinity. I also took out a Zeppelin with rockets before re-entering the machine gun to shoot down some more.
This is where it got tricky - all the houses on the upper tier of the village were gone so all dropped paratroops started to head down to the main central area via the ramps and grassy slope. This is when I left the machine gun and ran down the 'stone' ramp and launched everything including the WS Black Hole at the paratroops who were trying to destroy the houses there.
Both other Lionhearts still survived and helped out but it was the most frenetic part of the battle. I 'runned and gunned' like mad, launching Sharks when I had the ammo, to defend that central area and eventually received the mission success screen.
I'm fairly sure I hadn't destroyed all the Zeppelins and the mission ended VERY suddenly that's why I think it is simply a timed one. I'm guessing at 5 minutes but I could be wrong.
I've spent some time working out a good strategy for this mission since my first post and discovered it is actually remarkably easy even on Insane difficulty.
The thing is to realise that, after you've destroyed the initial batch, all the Zepellins dropping paratroops only come from one direction. (from the far right of your start which I think is North). With this in mind you can easy discover that no Stig Gun or Forge Cannon actually covers this approach.
So the only way to take them out is to use your own guns specifically the rockets. Since you need to be able to reload the only sensible place you can position yourself is near the pub for this strategy to work.
You need to ignore those first two Zepellins and get up to the pub quick. Once in position turn around to face back towards the village (obviously) and go forward to the left of the other building and up to the wall overlooking the approach corridor to the north (?) upper part of the village now infront and to your left, A tree partially blocks the view but you should see a Zepellin coming in quickly which needs to be dealt with immediately. If it drops troops take them out with the rockets ASAP.
After you do this run to the Stig Gun nearby on the right of the same building and use it to take out all those other Zepellins milling around above the other side of the village to the right. When done immediately unattach from the gun and go back to the left of the building again and deal with the Zepellins as soon they appear. Reload at the pub inbetween attacks.
It took me three goes to realise that if you check behind the pub you can also find the the rocket upgrade which makes the destruction even more effecient.
As long as you're quick getting up to the pub initially you can destroy the 10 Zepellins required without any troops landing at all.
Since I worked this strategy out I actually looked at the guide here and the way suggested it's done is very similar just a few variations at the start.
BTW the guide isn't complete so if you ^ or anybody needs help with the other missions not covered in it please don't hesitate to ask.
