Tsuchinoko Question

#1DemonReacherPosted 4/5/2010 7:46:20 PM
Ok i know you can recapture the Tsuchinoko after the waterfall scene. However I thought of another way to get it back, wondering if it will work.

In the Virtuous mission you can steal a mousetrap from Ocelot and plant it somewhere. When you return during the Snake Eater mission, the mousetrap is still there along with some food.

So im thinking, what if during your first visit to Groz Grab you tried this. You place a mousetrap a storage shed, and throw your live Tsuchinoko on it. It will then get captured again and stay in the mousetrap. Could you then go back after you have been captured while you are escaping Groz Grad and pick it up, or will it be gone? And if this worked, maybe the Tsuchinoko before the waterfall scene will also be there so you can have two?

It doesnt work, even if you leave a Tsuchinoko in the Grozny Gard library surrounded by five mousetraps, it wont be there when you get back. I have tried in the library, toilet and under the tables in the room with the scientists.

Im not even sure that a visible Tsuchinoko can be caught with a mousetrap, in my experience you HAVE to recapture it with a non-lethal gun. I once tried to catch it with a mousetrap by killing all the animals in the area before the waterfall and going behind the waterfall to wait. I left the game for mroe than an hour and when I get back the Tsuchinoko was still not in the mousetrap. Thought it might have something to do with the fish so I killed all of them and tried again but still had no luck.

Damn that sucks. This one time i did a test, i put a mousetrap on the ground and threw a random live capture animal right on it. Like 2 seconds later, i watched it crawl right into the mousetrap and get caught. Maybe the TSU just wont get caught by the mousetrap.

I just tried it again on VE, left four mousetraps and threw the TSU cage at it and when I came back the four mousetraps were there but the TSU had dissapeared.

What run(s) are you busy with now DR? Im in the middle of Master Collector Runs on all the difficulties so that I have completed runs on the PS3 as well. Doing the same for Subsistence so its taking way longer than I thought.

Maybe dont leave the area. When i did it i didnt even move, i just watched it crawl into the trap by itself, maybe running away removed it from the games memory

Oh i get what you mean. I threw the cage at it, and it got caught. I left the area, came back and it was gone so it wont work

Anyway i also want all my saves on PS3 now. Im going to record my playthrough of a 100% run on E-Extreme getting FH. Basically its a run where i get each food item in the first area you can get it in, all frogs camos and weapons and still try get FH, tricky part is doing this under 5 hours

Yeah, I meant when you come back to Grozny Gard. But at least you showed me how to re-capture the TSU with a mousetrap, that means its possible to do a CQC-only FH run and also get the TSU as well.

If I remember correctly Metallica Snake did a FH Master Collector run but I dont think he did all the weapons as well. I dont remember what the area is called but next to where you fight The End there is the house/fortress from the early trailers that has a gun. Thats the only item that would really throw you off the regular route. Oh and that Water face-paint which requires back-tracking.

That gun is the M60, and you can also get it when you escape Groz Grad. Right before you enter the sewers, go to the ammo storage room, it will be there. Forgot about that stupid water camo. Also means i gotta do the sorrows river, at least it wont be too long if i go no kills.

My first FH run using non speed run tactics was around 3 and a half hours. I am pretty confident I can break 5 hours

Lol, I dont remember most of the weapon locations.

In all the time Ive had this game, I think I have done about two Kerotan runs. I just hate the frogs during the motorcycle chase, and have done a few runs where I was sure I got all the frogs but missed some. Refresh my memory, are there frogs in each of The End's area's?

Hey DR, when you fight The Fury on the PS3, do you experience any slowdown?

Yeah there is one frog each in The Ends fight, I also cant use the clock trick as i need his camo and gun.

Yeah, my PS3 gets extremely laggy/slow whatever when playing The Fury. What you could do is shoot the red pipes to get rid of some of the fire, might actually help
