Not sure why I'm posting this here rather than the PC board, except I've always played on the xbox, so have visited this board more over the years. Anyway...

I recently bought a new PC. It's only a little laptop, but I'd like to have morrowind on it, and so play it with mods etc for the first time in all these years.

The specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium
4 gb RAM
AMD E450 processor with Radeon HD graphics 1.65 ghz

I don't really know what any of that means, or if it's enough info. Any advice would be gratefully received; & any questions, swiftly answered.

thanks

What advice do you need? That computer should have no trouble running Morrowind.
...and that's how I came to be known as the Flourescent Haberdasher.

Well, vanilla.

Certain graphical upgrades? No way

Your laptop's hardware is fine. However, an OEM laptop version of Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit ?) is less than optimal for an older program like Morrowind.

Be prepared for the likely possibility that you will have to do some (or ALL) of the following things.

Backup and/or image your system drive and windows registry.
Install to a folder outside of the default "program files" folder.
Install an older version of DirectX (like 9.0c).
Install with "Run as Administrator" enabled.
Play with "Run as Administrator" enabled.
Play with UAC disabled.

To reaffirm MynameisDirtDog's last post, your AMD E450 APU's built-in Radeon HD 6320 GPU, will not be able to smoothly run the latest cutting-edge graphics-oriented mods. You will have to pick and choose which mods you can live without.

Oh.

Well, thanks for the warnings. I'm not bothered about graphics, though I would have liked to have some content mods. But from what SR71 said, it sounds like I don't have the computer smarts to do this.
