Gameboy Player and pre-Advance games

#1Z_hunter91Posted 4/2/2014 1:30:14 PM
I was wondering, does the Gameboy Player attachement also supports the games for the Classic Gameboy and the GB Color? I always assumed it only played Advance games until now, as it only shows those on the box with no other info.

I read on a couple of sites that it should, but I'd rather make sure first before I damage any of my games while trying it out.

Yes they work. I've played Pokemon Blue on there.

That's amazing. I've had both my Gamecube and GB Player since the early days and I never even thought of trying it

Also good to know that I won't have to solely rely on my GBA anymore for some of my older games.

There are a few exceptions that won't work in the Game Boy Player though, mostly cartridges with special features: for example, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble for GBC.

Most games with special features actually do work with the Game Boy Player. For example, Game Boy Color games that have Rumble are playable. You just can't feel the rumble, since it's inside the cartridges and it'll just cause your GC to vibrate. The Game Boy Printer and Multiplayer modes also work, since the Game Boy Player has a Link Cable port and it accepts Game Boy Pocket and Color cables,

You can play all sorts of freaky imports, Gameboy games have no region code. But multiplayer varies.
Gameshark or similar need extra room to fit.

The GBA video series was blocked. Ugly as they'd look anyway.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I wasn't expecting help so quickly.

It took me a bit to figure out why some of the games got stuck at the Gameboy screen with the Nintendo logo blacked out, and my Pokemon Red seems to have some signs of old age unfortunatly.

I'll definetly have to finish some of those classics now.

Make sure to take the boot disc out of the GameCube first. You can still play GBP even without the disc after you got it boot up. Leaving the disc inside your console while you play motion with your Game Boy game with it will likely damage the disc.
