The brawling mechanics are too slow and sloppy in Manhunt to consider it a valid choice for a person looking for a beat 'em up. You have a difficult enough time taking on one person. Trying to take on multiple ones is suicide. The game was built primarily with stealth in mind and you can tell hand to hand fighting was only meant to be once in a blue moon lifesaver by taking out one hunter quickly than a regular function to be used on every enemy in the game.
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Castlevania Curse of Darkness. That game is solid!
I always look at it as an RPG so when the TC asked for Hack'n'Slash and Beat-em Ups I didn't even think about it but it does have a sort of Hack'n'Slash thing going for it. Lament of Innocence even more so and it doesn't have the RPG elements.
