Thank you Angurvadal.

Just came in here to solely say that

Resident Evil 5; i got like 60 fps on the demo, maxed out, 1920x1080 on a 4850

How's that impressive? The game originated on the consoles which use Radeon X1800/Geforce 7800GT equivalents respectively, it would be ludicrous if that game did NOT run at at least 60 FPS on a card that is several times faster than that ancient tech.

The problem is though, most of the time console ports will take more power to run on PCs because of bad optimization. I seriously doubt anyone could run Skyrim smoothly on a PC with similar specs to an Xbox 360.

RE5 isn't a port... Capcom games are developed for PC and then ported to consoles.

Ah, was not aware of that, that is usually the method employed by the more successful multi-platform releases.

Depends on what is being optimized for.

One thing about Source games (like HL2) is that they have phenomenally large install sizes and the initial load times are inordinately long. So despite their good optimizations in terms of frame rates they are poorer on the optimizations in terms of disk space and load times.

Adding fuel to the fire, my suggestion for most optimized pc game is going to be something that Source games lack: optimized file size. I can't think of any other game than .kkreiger that look so good while taking <100kb file size.

For the graphical fidelity it provides on the meager hardware requirements, Just Cause 2 has my vote. Game is breathtaking, huge, and the freedom to go anywhere with very little popin even at extreme speed, has yet to be surpassed in my opinion.

I am going to say Battlefield 3 is one of the most optimized games I've played and I know it's a higher end graphical game, but when I only had 1 560ti I was playing it at 65fps with all max settings except textures.

Pretty impressive considering how unbelievable it looks and with just a $240 card.

At 1280x1024 I presume? Gotta love people throwing out BS framerates in forums.
