how good is it? is it comparable to discrete graphic cards?

Anything with a quad core will have a dedicated gpu.

Definitely better than last seasons hd3000. Certainly not better than a good discrete graphics chip. I'd approximate it to being between the 540m and the 555m but closer to the 540.

I'd wait for AMDs Trinity laptops commin around in June. Their integrated graphics unit is better than the HD 4000 and can do some high end gamin' at a playable frame rate. Thats what im waitin' for

Oh wow looks like I was completely wrong. I remembered reading an article putting the integrated chip somewhere between those two. It sill stands though, if you want to game get a discrete card and do not shoot yourself in the foot.

Yeah but then you have to use an AMD processor.
