Mac vs. PC

#31Orestes417Posted 6/1/2012 4:14:15 PM
Exactly. It's not a matter of the product being overpriced, it's a matter of the product on offer being a bad fit for what the critics actually want to do with it. If you want to say a Mac Pro is an extremely unwise way to spend your money if you want a general desktop/gaming machine I'll agree with you all day long. You shouldn't even be glancing at Apple if that's what you want because Apple doesn't sell those.

I don't know whether or not you configured that link, but even if you did, I'm pretty sure I can't see your configurations. For example, the hard drive is at 500GB (vs iMac's 1TB), and the price is the default $1267.79.

Configure it properly, either through a screenshot or Newegg.com wishlist.

No. Everything stock is better than the iMac so I'm not going to waste my time configuring it for you. Bring the hard drive up to 1TB brings the price up to $1300 compared to $1900. Faster processor, better desktop grade GPU, twice the ram running at a faster speed. It's an all around better desktop and is cheaper.

There's not even a damn monitor though, making all that rather useless, no?

I'm sure you can find a monitor for less than $600 no? Even if you spend that much, you have a better overall machine.

You forgot the $800-$900 monitor bundled into the iMac. I'll be nice and use the lower estimate. Add $800 to your price. Your build is $200 more expensive than the iMac.

You fail. Try again.

Not a 27" IPS. Not the last time I looked anyway.

Get a Catleap or something similar. Still costs less. Buying a Dell IPS will even out the cost.

What's this ? Another topic full of PCH drones talking utter s*** and bashing Apple for no good reason ?

NEW AND EXCITING.

There are plenty of ips 27in monitors available for less than $800. Cat leap for example. So with the machine I posted you have twice the ram clocked at a faster speed, a faster processor, a desktop GPU compared to a laptop GPU, for either the same price or less than the iMac. .
