I want this so bad. I just bought a laptop, trying to contemplate if I should spend more money, but this looks so fun.

I enjoy watching gameplay to an extent, but it seems like one of those games I would get frustrated with if I actually tried playing myself.

Same.

It's interesting enough, but watching cut and edited clips online, or various gameplay videos is a different beast than twiddling away hours at a time looking for loot and hoping a random bandit doesn't come one shot you.

I think most of the people that have never played ARMA 2 and are interested don't quite understand what Chernarus is. It is so massive and it is filled with practically nothing. Kinda tying in with Cody's comment. The videos look fun. Playing it is a different experience.

It is in Alpha though, I hope the Devs eventually create their own custom landmass.

The other thing that keeps me from it is that I don't have a dedicated group of people that I would trust to play with which would go a long way in making it more enjoyable.

Yeah, neither do I.

So, it'd boil down to either trying to solo/lone ranger the whole time, or trying to team up with random people in whatever server you end up in. And, at that point, the "Realism" of the game really kicks in; It's about survival, and that can actually trigger "Fight or flight" responses in people. Is that random person going to back up the random fella he just met when a Hoard arrives? Or is he just going to turn hide and leg it the instant trouble comes, let you die, and then silently return for whatever is left?
