Was gonna get a 23" dell ultrasharp, but Im thinking about giving my LG HDTV away to my GF and buying a 27" monitor. Or would I be better off with the 23" monitor and then just buy an additional 1080P Native HDTV? (mine is currently 720p native)

The only 27" monitors worth having are $700+.

^ Make that www.ebay.com/itm/251074175414 instead and we might be talking. Seems like the Catleap's stand is a piece of junk, along with various other complaints.

Yep go with the crossover, the design of the Catleap is horrible and the stand is cheaply made.
I got one myself and the image quality is a huge improvement over the already awesome 30" HP LP3065
