Go to GOG.com and login to your account , input your serial of your copy of The Witcher and or Witcher 2 and you will receive a free digital copy of the games, DRM free and patched to current.

It was always a pain to install and patch The Witcher from my discs.. so this is pretty cool.

What's the point of this if you have the steam version of the Witcher already.

DRM free...Can use it everywhere without problems

Cause GOG > Steam

Quite simple really.

Though not everyone owns steam version. I have a physical copy of The Witcher

It's actually for the witcher 2, so you have to have the steam version.

They changed it during the CD Projekt Summer conference the other day, it works for both versions now.

Yeah I don't own witcher 2 yet. I just have witcher 1 retail and it worked just fine for me.
